Begusarai: The opening match of the BCA Senior One Day Hayman Trophy (Central Zone), organised by the Bihar Cricket Association at the Barauni Fertiliser Ground in Begusarai, saw Samastipur clinch a convincing six-wicket victory over Supaul.
Winning the toss, Samastipur’s captain opted to field first. Supaul, batting first, were dismissed for 155 runs in 44 overs. Vineet Anand top-scored with 36 runs, while Sadiq Raja added 30. Samastipur’s Suman delivered a stellar bowling performance, claiming five wickets, while Rahul Romald took two.
Chasing the target, Samastipur reached 159 for 4 in just 23 overs. Mohammad Alam was the standout performer, scoring an unbeaten 106 runs, supported by Aditya Kumar’s 17. For Supaul, Diwakar took two wickets, while Sadiq Raja picked up one.
Alam’s match-winning century earned him the “Man of the Match” award. With this dominant victory, Samastipur have made an impressive start to the tournament, while Supaul will need to regroup before their next fixture.
