Patna: Due to the stagnant monsoon in Bihar, temperatures have risen once again in the south-western part of the state. On Sunday, a heatwave returned to Dehri, Gopalganj, Bhojpur, Vaishali, Aurangabad, and Arwal. Strong hot winds blew through these areas, causing temperatures to soar five degrees Celsius above normal. Vaishali experienced the most intense heat, recording a high of 41.9 degrees Celsius. Other regions, including Buxar, Vikramganj, and Munger, also saw temperatures above 40 degrees Celsius. According to IMD Patna, similar heat wave conditions are expected in these areas on June 24.

Monsoon conditions are anticipated to spread starting Tuesday, with the environment gradually becoming favorable for its progression. However, due to the monsoon’s delayed advance and the intense sun, people in Bihar are still suffering from humid heat. Heavy rain has been limited to one or two districts, while other districts have only seen sporadic showers. June has recorded 60 percent less rainfall than normal. The easterly winds blowing through Bihar continue to bring moist air, exacerbating the humid conditions.

The Meteorological Department predicts light rain with thunder and lightning in some parts of North Bihar on Monday. Meanwhile, residents of South Bihar will continue to endure humid heat, with rain activities expected to increase from Tuesday. On Sunday, light to moderate rain occurred in 22 places, including Bhabua, Lakhisarai, West Champaran, Nawada, Kishanganj, Gaya, Patna, Banka, Araria, Katihar, Munger, Jamui, and Rohtas.

The Meteorological Department has issued an orange alert for rain with thunder and lightning in parts of North Bihar and the south-east region on Tuesday, with wind speeds of 40 to 50 kilometers per hour expected. Heavy rain is likely in one or two places in West Champaran, East Champaran, Sitamarhi, Madhubani, Muzaffarpur, Supaul, Araria, and Kishanganj. On Wednesday, an orange alert has been issued for rain with thunder, lightning, and thunderstorms across most districts of the state.
