Patna to Get Three Five-Star Hotels: Bihar Government Invites Bids for Development in PPP Mode

By Neeraj Kumar

Patna: Preparations are underway for the construction of three five-star hotels in Patna, as part of the Bihar government’s efforts to cater to the growing number of tourists and improve the industrial landscape. These projects will be developed under the Public-Private Partnership (PPP) model. The state government has issued tenders for the selection of hotel developers, with the lease period fixed to attract major hotel groups.

Prime Locations and Long-Term Lease Agreements

The hotels are planned for prime locations in Patna:

  1. Hotel Pataliputra Ashok – 1.5 acres
  2. Sultan Palace Complex – 4.89 acres
  3. Bankipur Bus Stand Complex – 3.24 acres

The lease term will span 90 years, starting with an initial 60 years, extendable by an additional 30 years. Development, operation, and maintenance of the hotels will be undertaken by the selected developers. For the Sultan Palace complex, the new hotel will integrate with the existing heritage structure, while the buildings at the other two locations will be replaced.

Interest from Leading Hotel Chains

Renowned hospitality groups such as Taj, Hyatt, Radisson, ITC, Mayfair, and Oberoi have expressed interest in the project, recognising Patna’s potential as a growing destination for business and leisure tourism.

Next Steps in the Process

A pre-bid meeting is scheduled for 21 January at the BSTDC office, allowing interested parties to participate either in person or online. Following the meeting, the selection process for developers will proceed, marking a significant step in transforming Patna’s hospitality sector.

This initiative aims to position Patna on the map of luxury hospitality, bringing it on par with metropolitan cities like Delhi and Mumbai, while fostering economic growth in the region.
