Patna: In a significant step towards making the city’s roads and public spaces safer and better illuminated, approval has been granted for the installation of high-mast lights at 35 locations across Patna. The project, with an estimated cost of ₹1.62 crore, is expected to transform the city’s night-time landscape in the coming days.
The initiative gained momentum following the recommendation of former Bihar Minister and now BJP National President Nitin Nabin, whose efforts played a key role in securing approval. The development has been welcomed by local residents, who see it as a much-needed upgrade to urban infrastructure.
The project will be executed under a Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) initiative. As part of the plan, 35 high-mast lights, each standing 12.5 metres tall, will be installed and commissioned.
Around 35 sites across nearly 30 wards within the Patna Municipal Corporation area have been identified for the installation. These areas had long suffered from inadequate lighting, a concern that is now set to be addressed.
The installation of high-mast lights is expected not only to improve illumination but also to enhance public safety. In particular, crowded areas and major roads will become safer for movement during night hours.
Residents in several localities, including Bankipur, have expressed their satisfaction with the project. Public representatives and citizens alike have extended their gratitude to the government for the initiative.
The project is being seen as an important milestone in Patna’s urban development. It is expected to improve the city’s overall image while providing a safer and more convenient environment for its residents. Authorities hope that similar initiatives in the future will accelerate Patna’s transformation into a modern urban centre.
