Patna: Criminal activity is becoming a daily occurrence in Patna, with incidents such as mobile and chain snatching taking place fearlessly. In addition, auto-lifter gangs have been targeting passengers regularly. On Tuesday, the Patna police from Kotwali, Gandhi Maidan, and Buddha Colony police stations launched a joint operation at Patna Junction, inspecting autos and e-rickshaws, which caused panic among these criminal gangs.
The Senior Superintendent of Police (SSP) of Patna has been actively inspecting police stations to address the rising crime rate in the city and has issued a series of instructions to curb these incidents. As part of this initiative, the police teams conducted thorough checks of autos and e-rickshaws at Patna Junction. Several deficiencies were discovered during the inspections, leading to the apprehension of those involved. Upon the arrival of the police, chaos ensued near Patna station as auto and e-rickshaw drivers attempted to flee the scene.
This operation is part of an ongoing campaign by the police to combat the growing problem of auto-lifter gangs and frequent snatching incidents across the city. Sitaram Prasad, Station House Officer (SHO) of Gandhi Maidan, confirmed that the inspections revealed several irregularities with autos and e-rickshaws.
In recent weeks, there has been a sharp rise in chain-snatching incidents in areas under the jurisdiction of Kotwali, Gandhi Maidan, Kankarbagh, and Kadam Kuan police stations. Meanwhile, auto-lifter gangs have been involved in both pickpocketing and robbery, prompting the SSP to conduct frequent inspections and issue multiple directives to law enforcement.
Kotwali SHO Rajan Kumar stated that the campaign is being carried out on the orders of senior police officials to tackle the rising crime rate, and these operations will continue. Several autos and e-rickshaws were seized during Tuesday’s investigation.
