Patna: Patna Police arrested two dozen individuals for violating the liquor ban during New Year’s celebrations in the capital city. The arrests were made in various police station areas on 1 January after an intensive vehicle-checking campaign. Those apprehended were found intoxicated during routine checks and were subsequently sent to jail following medical confirmation of alcohol consumption.

Patna Police had heightened security and monitoring measures to manage the New Year festivities. Officers were deployed across the city, keeping a close watch on public activities. Bihar, which enforces a strict prohibition on liquor, saw the police take swift action against those flouting the law.

During the vehicle-checking operations, nine individuals were arrested by Phulwarisharif police, four by Beur police, and twelve by Gaurichak police station. Medical tests confirmed all of them were under the influence of alcohol.

In a separate incident near AIIMS Golambar, police discovered two cartridges in the possession of a young man during a routine search. He was also arrested and sent to jail. Phulwarisharif police station in-charge Mashoor Ahmed Haidri confirmed the incident.
