Patna: Janata Dal (United) leader Nishant Kumar on Friday convened a crucial organisational meeting at the party’s state headquarters, the Karpoori Auditorium in Patna, with district and block presidents from the Munger, Darbhanga, Kosi and Patna-1 divisions.
The meeting focused on strengthening the party at the grassroots level, taking the message of the “historic development works” carried out under the leadership of fromer Chief Minister Nitish Kumar to the masses, and deliberating in detail on upcoming programmes.
Among those present were state party president Umesh Singh Kushwaha, Deputy Leader of the ruling party in the Legislative Council Lalan Kumar Sarraf, Chief Whip Sanjay Kumar Singh alias ‘Gandhiji’, along with Anil Kumar, Dr Amardeep and Vasudev Kushwaha.
Addressing the gathering, Nishant Kumar urged party workers to reach out to the people and assure them that although Nitish Kumar has moved to the Rajya Sabha, his affection and guidance will continue to benefit the people of Bihar and the NDA government in the state. He emphasised that completing the unfinished tasks in line with Nitish Kumar’s policies remains the party’s foremost objective, expressing confidence in the wholehearted support of party workers.

He further stated that Nitish Kumar has worked for all sections of society, and it is the collective responsibility of party members to ensure that these achievements reach every household. Since assuming office in 2005, he has implemented several welfare schemes focused on Dalits, backward and extremely backward classes, minorities and women, ensuring that the benefits of development reach the deprived and marginalised sections.
Highlighting environmental initiatives, Nishant Kumar said that under the ‘Jal-Jeevan-Hariyali’ campaign, Nitish Kumar carried out significant work, leading to an increase in Bihar’s green cover from 9 per cent to over 15 per cent. He noted that the United Nations had recognised him as a “Climate Leader” in September 2020.

He also defended the state’s prohibition policy, saying that despite initial concerns over economic losses, Nitish Kumar prioritised public health. “The result today is an atmosphere of peace and harmony in society, with women in particular feeling safer than before,” he added.
Umesh Singh Kushwaha, in his remarks, said that the people of Bihar are looking towards former Chief Minister Nishant Kumar with hope and confidence as the party moves towards achieving a larger goal. He called upon party workers to move in step with Nishant Kumar and contribute to taking both the party and the state to new heights.
He added that Nishant Kumar’s active engagement has infused fresh enthusiasm and energy among party workers. Referring to Nitish Kumar’s guiding principle of “development with justice”, Kushwaha said Nishant Kumar is committed to carrying forward this ideology and ushering in a new chapter under the same vision.
