Patna, June 16: The Economic Offences Unit (EOU) of Bihar Police has sent notices to 11 candidates, suspected to be involved in alleged paper leak in the NEET-UG 2024.
The EOU, which is probing the allegations of a paper leak, has summoned the 11 candidates, along with their parents, at its office on Tuesday, June 18.
The notices were served to them after their names and roll codes were found from the possession of the solver gang during investigation. The National Testing Agency (NTA), which conducts the NEET, had provided the details of the candidates in response to a letter from the EOU.
EOU deputy inspector general (DIG) Manavjeet Singh Dhillon said the NTA, in response to the probe agency’s letter, sent admit cards of the nine candidates. “Through the admit cards, the EOU got the mobile numbers and addresses of the candidates. Notices have been sent on these addresses, summoning the candidates for questioning,” he said.
The officer said the candidates and their parents would be questioned about their links with the solver gangs. They would also be asked whether the solver gangs had provided the question paper to these nine candidates before the examination, he said.
The NEET(UG)2024 was held on May 5, after which an FIR was registered at the Shastri Nagar police station in Patna regarding the alleged leak of the question papers before the commencement of the examination. The police have so far arrested 13 accused, including four candidates, their parents and members of the solver gangs. The EOU, which has already interrogated them, plans to take the accused on remand again in light of fresh revelations in the case.
Meanwhile, the Supreme Court will hear a related matter on July 8. During this hearing, the EOU will submit its progress report. The Supreme Court had issued a notice to the Bihar government seeking information on the progress made so far in the alleged NEET question paper leak case.
