Nalanda University and South Asian University Sign MoU to Strengthen Academic and Research Collaboration on April 6, 2026.
Rajgir, Nalanda, Bihar: Nalanda University and South Asian University today signed a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) to enhance cooperation in academic and research programmes. The MoU was formally signed at the Nalanda University campus in Rajgir, Bihar.
The agreement was signed by Professor K. K. Aggarwal, President, South Asian University, and Professor Sachin Chaturvedi, Vice Chancellor, Nalanda University, in the presence of distinguished experts, dignitaries, government officials, media representatives, and students.
Speaking on the occasion, Prof. K. K. Aggarwal noted that the MoU will significantly expand mutual cooperation in academic and research domains, creating meaningful opportunities for students of both institutions.
Prof. Sachin Chaturvedi expressed his appreciation for this partnership, describing it as a new beginning in collaborative academic engagement. He emphasized that the initiative will focus on providing students exposure to the best academic practices and intellectual resources of both universities.
The MoU envisages a wide range of collaborative initiatives, including joint research supervision, teaching programmes, post-doctoral opportunities, academic conferences, symposiums, publications, and exchange of faculty, researchers, and students. It also promotes sharing of academic resources and scholarly materials, paving the way for sustained knowledge exchange and long-term institutional engagement.
Notably, both Nalanda University and South Asian University are premier international institutions governed by the Ministry of External Affairs, Government of India, and hold a pre-eminent position due to their unique mandate and global outlook.
Alongside, Nalanda University successfully hosted “Artha-Nalanda 2026”, the annual Economics Fest organised by the Department of Economics from April 04–06, 2026. The inaugural edition, centred on the theme “Artificial Intelligence and the Evolving Economic Landscape,” featured keynote sessions, debates, and competitions that explored the transformative role of AI in global economic systems. The event was enriched by the presence of distinguished speakers including Former Central Minister Mrs. Meenakshi Lekhi; Dr Deepak Mishra, Adviser at the World Bank; Professor K. K. Aggarwal, President, South Asian University; Professor Sachin Chaturvedi, Vice Chancellor, Nalanda University; Mr. Anilesh Mahajan, Senior Deputy Editor at India Today; and Mr. Siddhartha Shankar, Founder of Humantics AI. The event brought together academicians, domain experts, and students, fostering critical dialogue on emerging economic challenges and opportunities.
