Patna: Police traced and recovered Aryama Deepti, a Block Technical Manager (BTM) with the Agriculture Department who had gone missing on December 26, within 36 hours. The woman officer was found safe in Siwan and subsequently brought to the Bakhtiyarpur police station in Patna, where she is currently being questioned.
In connection with the case, a youth was taken into custody and interrogated. During questioning, he reportedly claimed that whatever he had done was justified. Aryama Deepti’s statement has since been recorded before a court.
After her recovery and court statement, Aryama Deepti did not return to either her parental home or her matrimonial residence, choosing instead to stay with her sister. Meanwhile, upon learning that Aryama would not be coming home, the mother of Shubham Kumar reportedly collapsed and was admitted to a nearby hospital in Begusarai.
According to family members, Aryama had travelled to Siwan with the son of her cousin aunt. It was stated that the two had been in contact earlier as well. Around six months ago, Aryama had also visited her cousin aunt’s home in Hajipur to attend a function. On this basis, the matter was initially suspected to be linked to a love affair. During the investigation, police examined Aryama’s mobile phone call detail records (CDR), which revealed contact with her cousin. The youth was then detained and questioned, during which he disclosed details of the entire episode. To avoid suspicion, he reportedly joined the family members in searching for Aryama after reaching Siwan.
SDPO-1 Anand Kumar Singh said the woman officer had been successfully traced. During questioning, Aryama Deepti stated that she had gone to Saran district to surprise her friend Anjali Kumari alias Goldy Kumari on her birthday. Acting swiftly on intelligence inputs and human evidence, police recovered her at around 4 am the following day.
Aryama Deepti is a native of Vijay Nagar in Patna and had been living in a rented house near Bakhtiyarpur Junction. She was married on December 4 to chartered accountant Shubham Kumar. Her husband said that on Friday morning at around 9.30 am, he had dropped Aryama at Athmalgola before leaving for his office. They last spoke on the phone at around 2 pm, when Aryama told him she had returned home for office-related work.
