Patna: Katihar lifted the BCA Men’s Senior One Day Trophy 2025–26 title after edging past Begusarai by one wicket in a thrilling final played at Moinul Haq Stadium on Sunday.
Batting first, Begusarai were bowled out for 230 runs in 48 overs. Prithviraj played a crucial innings, scoring 70 runs off 66 balls with six fours and two sixes. Wicketkeeper-batsman Murari Kumar contributed 50 runs from 54 deliveries, striking eight boundaries, while captain Danish Alam added 26 runs to the total.
For Katihar, Khalid Alam delivered an impressive bowling performance, claiming five wickets for 47 runs in his 10 overs, including one maiden. Harsh Nanda picked up two wickets, while Ayush and Ashwini Kumar took one wicket each.
Chasing a target of 231, Katihar reached the mark in 49.3 overs, scoring 231 for the loss of nine wickets to seal the title. Mayank Pamnani anchored the chase with an unbeaten 101 off 121 balls, hitting 12 fours and three sixes to guide his side to victory. Wicketkeeper Abhishek Kumar scored 30 runs, while Ashwini Kumar added 22.
For Begusarai, Abhishek Jha produced an outstanding bowling spell, taking five wickets for 46 runs in 10 overs, including two maidens. Sumit claimed two wickets, while Danish Alam and Sudhanshu took one each.
Congratulating the winners, Bihar Cricket Association president Harsh Vardhan praised Katihar for their achievement and commended both teams for their competitive and spirited performance in the final. He noted that such tournaments provide an important platform for nurturing cricketing talent in the state.
BCA secretary Ziaul Arfeen also congratulated the Katihar team, stating that players from all teams displayed competitive cricket throughout the tournament, which is crucial for the development of the sport in Bihar. He added that matches of the BCA Men’s Under-23 competition are currently being held at various venues, while the BCA Under-19 tournament will commence shortly, providing young cricketers further opportunities to showcase their talent.
With this victory, Katihar secured the BCA Men’s Senior One Day Trophy 2025–26 title. Several officials of the Bihar Cricket Association were present during the final, along with ICA member and Bihar players’ representative Sunil Kumar and district players’ representative Rajesh Kumar. Office-bearers from the Katihar and Begusarai district cricket associations were also in attendance.
