Patna: Road Construction Department Minister Dilip Jaiswal on Wednesday shared details of the ongoing Marine Drive project, stating that the JP Ganga Path is being constructed from Munger via Sultanpur to Sabour. He said the corridor is also being extended towards Koilwar on one side and Bidupur on the other.
The minister said the government envisions extending the JP Ganga Path in the future from Buxar up to Mirza Chowki on the Bihar–Sahibganj border. “There is also a long-term dream to take the JP Ganga Path from Varanasi to Farakka,” he added.
Jaiswal further said that on the lines of the JP Ganga Path, the Ganga Project Waterways is also being developed. Once operational, it will enable the transportation of logistics goods at a much lower cost. He noted that the JP Ganga Path has already become a benchmark project, which people popularly refer to as a Marine Drive. There is also a growing demand to extend the corridor from Koilwar to the ancient city of Buxar. He added that the Hariharnath area is being developed on the lines of an urban settlement.
Describing the JP Ganga Path as more than just a road, the minister said it is being viewed as a development corridor. In Patna, its expansion is expected to significantly ease traffic congestion while also strengthening infrastructure and enhancing the beauty of the Ganga riverfront. The government claims the project will generate employment opportunities and promote inland waterways.
The Bihar government, he said, is continuously working to strengthen road connectivity across the state. Along the JP Ganga Path, projects such as a riverfront, Sabhyata Dwar, Titli Park and Samagra Udyan are also being developed. In the coming years, the entire stretch along the Ganga in Patna is set to emerge as a modern corridor, poised to become a new favourite destination for morning and evening walkers as well as photography enthusiasts.
