Patna: In the Cooch Behar Trophy clash at Moinul Haq Stadium, Jharkhand secured a crucial 35-run first-innings lead after being bowled out for 189 in response to Bihar’s 154. By stumps on day two, Bihar were battling at 80 for five in their second innings, trailing Jharkhand’s total by 45 runs.
Resuming their first innings at 56 for two, Jharkhand’s innings revolved around Krish Sharma, who top-scored with a solid 74. Sentu Yadav added 40, while Ayush Kumar chipped in with 33. However, the rest of the line-up faltered, with five batters failing to score. Aditya Raj was the standout bowler for Bihar, taking five wickets, while Satyam Kumar and Suman Kumar contributed with two and one wickets, respectively.
Bihar’s second innings began shakily. Ayush Raj and Anubhav Singh managed 13 and 17 runs, respectively, while Taufiq and Md Alam fell cheaply. At the end of the day, Dipesh Gupta (20 not out) and Gautam Kumar (3 not out) were at the crease. Jharkhand’s Ishan Om led the bowling attack, claiming four wickets, supported by Tanish with one.
With the match delicately poised, Bihar will need a strong effort on day three to set Jharkhand a competitive target.
