Patna: A Jan Suraaj rally was held on Sunday at the Bapu Auditorium, drawing a large crowd from across the state. During the event, several prominent figures from Bihar announced their support for the campaign, including former RJD and JD(U) MLAs, former IPS officer Anand Mishra, and Dr. Jagriti, granddaughter of Karpoori Thakur.

Jan Suraaj founder Prashant Kishore addressed the gathering, declaring that he will not contest for any post within the party. Kishore, who pioneered the Padyatra Abhiyan, emphasized that he does not see himself as a leader of Jan Suraaj and will not assume that role in the future. Instead, he is focused on selecting the right individuals from villages to lead Bihar, with the consensus of all party workers. He confidently stated that Jan Suraaj aims to form the government in Bihar by 2025, promising to put an end to labor migration and provide local employment.

Kishore outlined a democratic process for electing the party’s leader, with the president’s term limited to one year. Leadership will rotate among different societal classes, including Dalits, Muslims, extremely backward classes, backward classes, and upper castes. The first state president will be from the Dalit community, reflecting the party’s commitment to inclusivity.

Prashant Kishore announced that on October 2, in the presence of 1.5 lakh organization officials out of one crore founding members, Jan Suraaj will transition into a political party named Jan Suraaj Party. A seven-member election committee was introduced, featuring former scientist E R N Singh, former teacher Dr. Bhupendra Yadav, advocate Ganesh Ram, Dr. Manzar Naseem, former IAS officers Arvind Singh and Suresh Kumar Sharma, and Mrs. Swarnlata Sahni.

Additionally, a 131-member constitution committee was formed to draft the party’s constitution. Kishore surprised attendees by reiterating that he will not contest for any position, leaving election participation to those who recruit 5,000 active members. He sought and received consent from the workers for this plan.
