Patna: Bihar Governor Arif Mohammed Khan joined the Prakash Parv celebrations marking the 359th birth anniversary of Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj and paid obeisance at the Patna Sahib Gurdwara. On his arrival, members of the Gurdwara Management Committee honoured him with a siropa. Chief Minister Nitish Kumar also visited the gurdwara during the day and offered prayers.
The Governor sat in the gurdwara and listened to the Guru’s discourse, paying tribute to Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj’s life, sacrifice and message of humanity.
Speaking on the occasion, Arif Mohammed Khan said Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj’s life symbolised courage, equality, social justice and the protection of faith. He said the Guru not only united the Sikh community but also inspired all citizens to stand against oppression and injustice. The establishment of the Khalsa, he added, conveyed a powerful message of equality and brotherhood in society.

The Governor further said that Bihar, particularly Patna Sahib, holds special significance for the Sikh community—not only as the birthplace of Guru Gobind Singh Ji Maharaj, but also as a symbol of unity and cultural harmony.
Chief Minister Nitish Kumar also visited the Patna Sahib Gurdwara and offered prayers. He had visited the gurdwara on Friday as well to review preparations and interact with members of the Gurdwara Committee.
The Gurdwara management briefed the Governor and the Chief Minister about the Prakash Utsav programmes.
