Patna: The much-anticipated inter-school sports festival, Excelsior 2024, began with great fanfare on Monday, 16 December, at Delhi Public School, Patna East. The event was inaugurated with a ceremonial lamp-lighting by the chief guest, Amit Prakash, Pro Vice Chairman of the school, along with Principal Dr Rakesh Alfred, Vice Principal Ashfaq Iqbal, and Director of Primary Classes, Ms Geeta S.
In his address, the Principal emphasised the importance of sports in shaping students’ character and skills. The opening ceremony featured vibrant cultural performances, including dance, music, and a parade by the students, who also pledged to play with dedication and sportsmanship. The chief guest encouraged the participants with his inspiring speech.
A total of 568 students from 15 schools are competing in the three-day festival, which includes football, basketball, volleyball, athletics, and kabaddi matches. The event provides a platform for students to showcase their physical abilities and teamwork.
The inaugural day concluded with a torch relay, the lighting of the sports flame, a vote of thanks, and the national anthem. The festival aims to instil a spirit of sportsmanship and foster enthusiasm, teamwork, and healthy competition among students.

- Saint Michael High School defeated Litera Valley School 3–0.
- Trinity Global School defeated Tribhuvan School 3–1.
- Kabaddi:
- Litera Valley beat Litera Public School.
- Tribhuvan School triumphed over Litera Public School, Fatuha.
- Bishop Scott defeated Leeds Asian School.
- Basketball (Boys):
- Saint Michael High School won against Tribhuvan School 26–4.
- Trinity Global School defeated B.D. Public School 25–6.
- Basketball (Girls):
- Saint Michael High School overcame Trinity Global School 12–2.
