Gaya, Bihar: A grand and dignified inauguration ceremony of a Common Service Centre (CSC) was successfully held at the Nagar Block Fishermen Cooperative Society in Gaya under the aegis of the Bihar State Fishermen Cooperative Federation. The event witnessed enthusiastic participation from members of the fishing community, local residents, and several distinguished guests.
The programme commenced with the traditional lighting of the lamp and a formal welcome to the guests. A sense of excitement and optimism prevailed among those present throughout the event.
Addressing the gathering as the Chief Guest, Bihar Legislative Assembly Speaker Dr Prem Kumar stated that the Common Service Centre would serve as a powerful medium to connect rural and fishing communities with digital services. He emphasised that this initiative would ensure direct and transparent access to government schemes. He further announced that free training and CSC kits would be provided to ensure the smooth functioning of the centre.
The inauguration was carried out by Bihar Legislative Council Member and former minister Hari Sahni, who described the initiative as a milestone in the social and economic development of the fishing community. He noted that the CSC would generate new avenues for self-employment and help young people become self-reliant. He also announced plans to establish Common Service Centres in all fishermen’s cooperatives across the state and to ensure registration of all fishermen.

Rishikesh Kashyap, Managing Director of the Bihar State Fishermen’s Cooperative Federation, attended the event as the Guest of Honour. In his address, he said the federation has been consistently working towards the upliftment of the fishing community. Through the CSCs, services such as insurance, banking, digital access, training, and employment opportunities would be made available. He added that all fishermen in the state would be provided with free insurance cover of ₹5 lakh, along with the issuance of Fisheries Farmer Credit Cards.
Among the distinguished attendees were directors of the federation Shivnandan Prasad, Ashok Kumar Chaudhary and Rakesh Kumar, along with Ashok Kumar, Secretary, and Md Nawab Ali, President of the Nagar Block Fishermen’s Cooperative Society.
All speakers lauded the initiative, describing it as a significant step towards the development of the fishing community.
The programme also highlighted key aspects such as the expansion of fisheries-related services through CSCs, employment and self-employment opportunities for fishermen, availability of insurance, banking and other government services, and the promotion of digital empowerment in rural areas.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks extended to all guests, officials and attendees. The initiative is expected to mark a major step towards development and self-reliance, not only for Gaya district but for the entire fishing community across Bihar.
Also present at the event were federation director Simran, along with officials Ravi Raj (Marketing Manager) and Rahul Kumar (Assistant Social Media Manager).
