Patna: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP), regarded as the world’s largest political party, celebrated its Foundation Day with enthusiasm across the country and abroad. In Bihar, the occasion was marked with grandeur at the party’s state headquarters in Patna.
The party office was adorned with flowers and colourful lights, while the celebrations commenced with the hoisting of the party flag and remembrance of senior leaders. State President Sanjay Saraogi unfurled the flag and paid tribute to key ideologues, including Deendayal Upadhyaya and Syama Prasad Mukherjee, by garlanding their statues.
Several prominent leaders, including Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, MP Ravi Shankar Prasad, and other party office-bearers, also offered floral tributes. The celebrations featured the distribution of 47 kilograms of sweets and the lighting of 47 lamps, symbolising the party’s 47th anniversary. Party workers displayed high spirits, with fireworks adding to the festive atmosphere.
Addressing the gathering, Saraogi congratulated party workers and acknowledged their contributions, stating that the BJP’s rise to global prominence was built on the dedication and sacrifices of countless workers. Quoting Prime Minister Narendra Modi, he reiterated the party’s commitment to the principles of “Sabka Saath, Sabka Vikas, Sabka Vishwas, Sabka Prayas” (together with all, development for all, trust of all, and efforts by all). He emphasised that the BJP symbolises development, trust, innovation, and national progress.

Saraogi further described the party’s functioning as inclusive and welfare-oriented, asserting that the BJP is not merely a political organisation but an ideology dedicated to nation-building and public service. He urged workers to embrace these ideals and continue strengthening the organisation at every level.
Recalling former Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee, he cited his famous line, “Darkness will fade, the sun will rise, and the lotus will bloom,” adding that Bihar is undergoing transformation and further aspirations of the people will soon be fulfilled.
He also highlighted that under Modi’s leadership, India is progressing towards becoming a global leader, with the vision of a developed nation by 2047. Calling upon workers to hoist the party flag at every booth, he urged them to spread the message of development among voters and expand the party by enrolling youths, particularly from non-political backgrounds.

Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary, in his address, extended greetings to party workers and expressed hope that the BJP would continue to thrive for centuries. He asserted that the party remains steadfast in its commitments and continues to advance its agenda at both state and national levels, with a focus on the principle of Antyodaya (upliftment of the last person).
During the function, senior members of the party were felicitated, while a large number of individuals from non-political families formally joined the BJP. The new members were welcomed by Saraogi.
The event was conducted by State Vice-President Pinki Kushwaha, with a vote of thanks delivered by Satyapal Narottam. Saraogi also hoisted the party flag at his official residence, where Choudhary visited to extend greetings. A large number of party officials and workers were present throughout the celebrations.
