Patna: In the third phase of teacher recruitment in Bihar, 39,391 posts will be filled in secondary and higher secondary schools. The Education Department has sent the list of vacancies to the General Administration Department following clearance of the reservation roster. There are 17,018 vacancies for secondary teachers and 22,373 for higher secondary teachers.

These vacancies will be filled based on the results of the third phase teacher recruitment examination. The Education Department will forward the requisition for 17,018 secondary teacher posts and 22,373 higher secondary teacher posts to the Bihar Public Service Commission (BPSC) after clearance from the General Administration Department.

Additionally, following reservation roster clearance for the appointment of headmasters in higher secondary schools, the Education Department has sent the 6,061 headmaster positions to the General Administration Department. These posts will also be forwarded to the BPSC. It should be noted that although the recruitment examination for these positions has already been conducted, the initial vacancies were based on a reservation rule that was later declared illegal by the Supreme Court. The vacancies have now been restructured in accordance with the previous reservation rule.

As of now, the reservation roster for primary and middle school teacher vacancies has not been cleared. Once cleared, these positions will also be forwarded to the BPSC, and results are expected to follow shortly. It is anticipated that the results for head teacher and headmaster posts may be announced by mid-November, with the results of the third phase teacher recruitment examination likely to be released in late November or early December.

The exams for headmaster and head teacher positions were conducted on 28th and 29th June, while the third phase recruitment examination for 87,774 teaching posts was held between 19th and 22nd July at various centres across the state.

The Nitish Kumar government has made history by initiating the teacher recruitment process in November 2023, having already provided jobs to around 2.17 lakh candidates in two phases. In the first phase, appointment letters were issued to 1,20,336 individuals, while 96,823 were appointed in the second phase. Out of the 87,774 posts advertised in the third phase, 39,391 will soon be filled.
