Bihar Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha

Patna: Continuous action is being seen in Bihar against encroachment on government land, with Revenue and Land Reforms Minister Vijay Kumar Sinha taking an assertive stance. While the drive may not be to the liking of some officials, leaders across both the ruling alliance and the Opposition appear to be appreciative of his approach.
During the Budget Session of the Bihar Legislative Assembly on Thursday, Rashtriya Janata Dal MLA Rahul Kumar raised the issue of alleged encroachment on gair mazrua (non-registered) land in Islampur. At the same time, Islampur MLA Ruhail Ranjan of the Janata Dal (United) objected to a query regarding the removal of encroachments, prompting a strong response from Deputy Chief Minister Sinha.
“No one can pull back Angad’s foot. I will complete the mission I have undertaken. As long as I remain the Revenue Minister, the results will be visible. Action against encroachments will be taken after March,” Sinha said.
He added that delays were occurring as circle officers and staff often went on strike. “Medicine may be bitter, but when taken, its effect is evident,” he remarked.
“Patience is required to cure an illness. Rushing will not help. We are not caught between allopathy and homoeopathy; we are opting for Ayurvedic treatment, which will provide a permanent solution,” he said.
Sinha is seen as particularly vigilant about his department. He regularly holds meetings with officials and staff, and during public grievance hearings, he has not hesitated to suspend even circle officers if irregularities are detected. Last month, he had stated that it was time to act against the ‘games of fraud’ being played under the pretext of land mutation, measurement, rectification and land disputes. While expressing faith in a homoeopathic approach, he had also warned that if surgery became necessary, arrangements for allopathic treatment would not be ruled out.
