Sovima: Bihar produced a commanding batting performance on the opening day of their CK Nayudu Trophy Plate (Under-23) multi-day cricket match against Nagaland at the Sovima Cricket Ground, Sovima.
At stumps on Day One, Bihar had piled up 366 runs for the loss of four wickets in 90 overs in their first innings, putting themselves in a strong position.
Bihar began cautiously and suffered an early setback at a total of 24 runs. However, Prashant Kumar steadied the innings with a responsible and impressive century. Displaying sound technique and patience, he scored 140 runs off 223 deliveries, striking 17 boundaries. His knock provided much-needed stability to the innings.
In the middle order, Deepak made a valuable contribution with 59 runs from 129 balls, ensuring the momentum was maintained. The final session belonged to Prithvi Raj, who played an aggressive and fluent knock, remaining unbeaten on 99 from 95 balls, including 11 fours and three sixes. He was well supported by wicketkeeper-batter Shashank Upadhyay, who remained not out on 46 off 53 deliveries.
The crucial unbeaten partnership between Prithvi Raj and Shashank Upadhyay lifted Bihar into a dominant position. At the close of play, the team maintained a healthy run rate of 4.07, with both batters firmly set at the crease.
For Nagaland, Raja Swarnkar, Kelhausilie Zaputou, Keduovetuo and Sujal Prasad picked up one wicket each. Kelhausilie Zaputou bowled economically, finishing with figures of one for 75 from 31 overs.
