Bihar IPS Shivdeep Lande Transferred to Police Training Role After Resignation Controversy

Patna: In recent times, Bihar’s dynamic IPS officer Shivdeep Lande made headlines following his unexpected resignation. However, the police headquarters has since transferred him to a new role.

The Inspector General (IG) of Purnia Range, Shivdeep Lande, has been reassigned as the IG of Police Training. Rakesh Rathi has been appointed as the new IG of Purnia Range, replacing Lande. A formal notification has been issued regarding this transfer.

The Bihar government’s Home Department issued the notification, detailing the transfer of two IPS officers. The well-known IPS officer, Shivdeep Vaman Rao Lande, has been transferred from his post as Purnia Range IG to become the Inspector General of Police Training in Bihar (Patna). Rakesh Rathi will now assume the role of IG for the Purnia Range.

Recently, IPS officer Shivdeep Lande, known for his impactful service, submitted his resignation to the government. However, the resignation was not accepted. On Wednesday, the Home Department transferred him to the role of IG Police Training. Rakesh Rathi, an IPS officer from the 2003 batch, has been appointed as the new IG of Purnia Range.

On 19th September, the prominent IPS officer from the 2006 batch, Shivdeep Lande, posted on social media about his resignation, causing a stir in Bihar’s political and administrative circles.

Shivdeep Lande had stated that he wished to continue serving the people of Bihar, leading to speculation about his possible entry into politics. However, he dismissed these speculations the following day. On his wife’s birthday, Lande posted about the concept of ‘sacrifice,’ indicating that his resignation was for his wife’s sake. Despite this, he has now been transferred to a new role.
