Patna: In a major announcement ahead of the 2025 Bihar Assembly elections, Chief Minister Nitish Kumar has declared the creation of 7 lakh jobs and 10 lakh employment opportunities. Following this, the Education Department is gearing up to fill over 1.5 lakh positions, including head teachers, headmasters, and computer teachers.
Education Minister Sunil Kumar has confirmed that a request for these vacancies has been submitted to the commission. The department is working diligently to bring forth a significant number of vacancies for the youth of Bihar, aiming to bolster the state’s education sector.
This initiative is part of a broader effort by the Nitish Kumar government, which has a history of significant teacher recruitment. Between 2006 and 2007, the government employed 3,86,000 teachers through Panchayat and other civic bodies. In 2023, the Bihar Public Service Commission reinstated 2,20,000 government teachers, and an additional 1,80,000 teachers were confirmed as government employees after passing a competency test. Now, the Education Department is preparing to recruit over 1.5 lakh more teachers.
This announcement comes after Nitish Kumar’s promise in 2020 to provide 10 lakh jobs and 10 lakh employment opportunities. On 15th August, he updated this commitment, promising 12 lakh jobs and 34 lakh employment opportunities. So far, the government has delivered 5 lakh jobs and 24 lakh employment opportunities, with the remaining 7 lakh jobs and 10 lakh employment opportunities to be fulfilled by 2025. The Education Department is expected to play a key role in achieving these targets.
