Patna: Taking firm action against students with dual enrolment in schools across Patna, the District Education Office has cancelled the enrolment of 9,202 students who were simultaneously enrolled in both government and private institutions. Of these, 9,000 students have been removed from government school rolls. Statewide, over three lakh students have been identified with double enrolment during the 2024-25 academic session.
The District Education Office stated that double enrolment was causing substantial financial losses to the education department. Many students had registered in both government and private schools to exploit the Direct Benefit Transfer (DBT) scheme. Similar cases have been identified in other districts of Bihar, and after thorough verification, these students’ enrolments are being cancelled. Additionally, they will no longer receive benefits from government schemes.
Zero Double Enrolment Target for 2025-26
To eliminate double enrolment in the upcoming 2025-26 academic session, the authorities plan to implement stricter monitoring measures. Students will be identified using their Apaar ID and Aadhaar credentials. After verification, any duplicate enrolments will be cancelled, and DBT benefits will be withdrawn.
Statewide Data on Double Enrolment
Madhubani district reports the highest number of double-enrolled students at 19,208, while Jehanabad has the lowest at 2,914. Samastipur has identified 15,026 students with dual enrolment in both government and private schools. The education department is currently investigating the data submitted in this report to ensure complete transparency and accountability.
This initiative aims to curb misuse of government schemes and streamline the enrolment process to ensure resources are directed to deserving students.
