Patna: Bihar Pradesh Congress Committee President Rajesh Ram, addressing a press conference at the party’s state headquarters, Sadaqat Ashram, on Saturday, alleged that candidates of TRE 4 had gathered with legitimate demands, but instead of being heard, they were subjected to a brutal lathi charge by the authorities.
He claimed that the government, rather than delivering justice to the aspirants, was merely offering “date after date” without any concrete resolution.
Rajesh Ram further alleged that while lakhs of qualified candidates were struggling on the streets for employment, the sons of three former Chief Ministers had been appointed to ministerial posts. He specifically alleged that even the unemployed son of former Chief Minister Nitish Kumar had been made a minister, exposing what he described as the government’s biased approach.
He also condemned the alleged mistreatment of candidates, stating that not only male aspirants but female candidates too were subjected to inhumane behaviour by male police personnel. He alleged that women were dragged, their dupattas pulled, and they were beaten mercilessly, leaving several seriously injured. He termed the incident undemocratic and shameful, and said the Congress party strongly condemns it.
Highlighting issues in the education sector, Rajesh Ram said that over two lakh posts remain vacant in Bihar’s Education Department, with the highest shortages in Science and English subjects. Due to the acute shortage of teachers, students are being deprived of quality education, he added. He further alleged that private coaching centres and schools were exploiting the situation by charging arbitrary fees from parents.
He asserted that the Congress party would stand firmly with students and aspirants in their fight for rights and would continue to support their demands. He urged the government to immediately initiate dialogue with the candidates, address their grievances, and take action against those responsible.
Media Chairman Rajesh Rathore, along with Kamal Kamlesh, Shashant Shekhar, Wasim Akhtar Ansari, Mrinal Anamay and Ranjeet Kumar Balmiki, were also present at the press conference.
