Bihar CM Nitish Kumar Launches Deluxe Buses, Rural Roads App, and Playground Construction Projects Worth ₹638 Crore

By Neeraj Kumar
Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Nitish Kumar on Thursday launched a series of ambitious schemes under the Rural Works Department, Transport Department, and Rural Development Department. At an event held at the Chief Minister’s residence, Nitish Kumar flagged off 43 deluxe buses of the Transport Department, inaugurated the ‘Hamara Bihar Hamari Sadak’ mobile app for rural road maintenance, and kickstarted the construction of 6,659 playgrounds at a cost exceeding ₹638 crore. The event witnessed the presence of both Deputy Chief Ministers and departmental ministers.

State-of-the-Art Transport Service

Nitish Kumar inspected one of the deluxe buses before flagging off the fleet. He reviewed the onboard facilities, ensuring they meet the standards of a modern and comfortable travel experience. These 43 buses are set to operate on various inter-regional routes across the state, offering affordable, safe, and convenient transport to citizens.

“With the operation of these new buses, people across Bihar will experience a comfortable and reliable travel service,” Kumar said.

Pothole-Free Roads with ‘Hamara Bihar Hamari Sadak’ App

The Chief Minister Niitish Kumar also launched the ‘Hamara Bihar Hamari Sadak’ mobile app, an Android-based platform developed by the Rural Works Department. The app enables the public to report road issues such as potholes, damaged edges, or other concerns directly to the department. Users can upload details and images of the problem, ensuring real-time communication with authorities.

The app, which will cover 65,000 km of rural roads, is designed to ensure transparency and accountability in road maintenance. Complaints registered on the platform will be resolved by the designated officers within a stipulated timeframe, and updates, including post-repair photographs, will be shared via the app.

The initiative is also backed by a massive investment plan, with ₹25,000 crore earmarked for road repairs by 2025.

“Through this app, public participation will enhance the development of infrastructure in rural areas, ensuring better roads and quicker resolution of issues,” Nitish Kumar remarked.

Playground Construction to Boost Employment and Sports

Nitish Kumar also inaugurated the construction of 6,659 playgrounds across 5,671 gram panchayats under the Rural Development Department. The project, implemented through the MNREGA scheme, spans all 38 districts and 533 blocks of Bihar.

The first phase of the project involves a total investment of ₹638.27 crore and is expected to generate 41 lakh man-days of employment. These playgrounds aim to foster the development of sports infrastructure in rural areas while creating significant job opportunities for local residents.

“This initiative will not only promote sports at the grassroots level but also create much-needed employment opportunities for the people,” Kumar said.

A Push Towards 2025 Elections

The flurry of activity in Bihar’s departments signals increased momentum as the state prepares for the 2025 elections. These initiatives—from modern transport services and road development to employment-generating playground projects—are poised to enhance the quality of life for citizens and ensure wide-reaching infrastructural development.

With the operation of deluxe buses, improved rural roads through the ‘Hamara Bihar Hamari Sadak’ app, and the construction of sports facilities, the Bihar government is addressing critical sectors to meet the aspirations of its people.
