Patna: Bihar lifted the Vijay Hazare Trophy Plate title after defeating Manipur by six wickets in the final played on Tuesday at the JSCA International Stadium Complex in Ranchi on Tuesday.
After winning the toss, Manipur opted to bat but were bundled out for 169 in 47.5 overs. Ulennyai Khwairakpam top-scored with 61, while Jotin Feirojam contributed 51 in an attempt to steady the innings. However, Bihar’s bowlers struck at regular intervals, denying Manipur the chance to build momentum.
Shabbir Khan delivered a sensational spell for Bihar, claiming 7 wickets for 30 runs in 8 overs, including a hat-trick. Himanshu Tiwari supported him well with three wickets. The Bihar attack proved relentless, dismissing four Manipur batsmen without a run.
Chasing a modest target of 170, Bihar got off to a steady start with Mangal Mahrour scoring 32 and Piyush Kumar Singh adding 21 to lay a solid foundation. Ayush Loharuka then anchored the chase with a composed and fluent knock of 75 off 72 balls, making the target look comfortable. Captain Sakibul Gani chipped in with 13 runs, while Akash Raj (20 not out) and Bipin Saurabh (8 not out) ensured a smooth finish. Bihar reached 170 for 4 in just 31.2 overs to seal the title.

Congratulating the team, Bihar Cricket Association president Harshvardhan said the side had displayed discipline, balance and consistency throughout the tournament. “The team adapted well to match situations, and that collective effort culminated in a title-winning performance in the final,” he said.
He also lauded the contribution of the coaching and support staff, terming the triumph a result of teamwork. Expressing confidence for the future, he added that the victory would provide a strong platform for the continued growth of Bihar cricket.
With this win, Bihar completed an unbeaten campaign in the Vijay Hazare Trophy Plate, underlining their dominance through disciplined and well-balanced performances across the season.
