Bihar and Tripura Draw in Vijay Merchant Trophy Plate Group Match

Patna: The match between Bihar and Tripura under the Vijay Merchant Trophy Plate Group ended in a draw. Bihar secured 3 points based on their first-innings lead, while Tripura earned 1 point.

The match was held at MGM School Cricket Ground in Cuttack, Odisha. Tripura posted scores of 193 runs in their first innings and 114 runs in their second. Bihar responded with 229 runs in their first innings and were 14/2 in 12 overs at the end of their second innings.

On the third day, Bihar began their first innings at 221/8 and were bowled out for 229 runs. Yash scored 50, Pritam Raj made 14, Animesh Raj contributed 23, Ashish Gupta scored 19, Jayant Raj added 7, Satyam Raj made 20, Omkar Kumar hit 52, Mohit Kumar scored 22, Aryan Patel remained not out on 2, and Abhijeet Singh scored 1 for Bihar.

For Tripura, Prithiraj Gop took 2 wickets for 44 runs, Shubhdeep Paul took 2 wickets for 33 runs, Mahin claimed 2 wickets for 33 runs, Siddharth Debnath took 2 wickets for 39 runs, and Kishan Sarkar took 1 wicket for 55 runs.

In Tripura’s second innings, Bihar’s bowlers excelled, dismissing Tripura for 114 runs in 54.2 overs. Siddhartha Debnath scored 31 runs, while Aadi Debnath made 23 runs. Other notable contributions were Rajdeep Debnath (9), Saurabh Sutradhar (5), Sandipan Das (3), Mahin (6), Prasannajit Chakraborty (4), Preethiraj Gop (6), Kishan Sarkar (9 not out), and Shubhdeep Paul (4).

For Bihar, Satyam Raj claimed 3 wickets for 38 runs, Aryan Patel took 3 wickets for 33 runs, Animesh Raj took 3 wickets for 17 runs, and Pritam Raj picked up 1 wicket for 6 runs.

Bihar was set a target of 79 runs for victory but managed only 14 runs for 2 wickets in 12 overs by the end of the match. The game was concluded early due to technical reasons, resulting in a draw.

In Bihar’s second innings, openers Pritam Raj and Yash were dismissed for ducks. Siddharth Rathore was unbeaten on 4, and Animesh Raj scored 10 runs. Bihar’s score at the end of 12 overs stood at 14/2. For Tripura, Prithiraj Gop and Shubhdeep Paul each took 1 wicket.
