Patna: In the Khagaul police station area of Patna, the Chief Security Incharge of AIIMS Patna, Prem Nath Roy, was shot at by bike-borne assailants. The incident occurred as Roy was travelling from his residence to AIIMS via the Digha Elevated Road. As he was descending from the elevated road at Khagaul, three criminals on a motorcycle approached and opened fire on his car from behind.
Fortunately, Roy narrowly escaped the attack. Upon receiving the information, Khagaul police, along with Danapur ASP Diksha, promptly arrived at the scene to investigate. Prem Nath Roy later filed a written complaint at Khagaul police station. In his statement, he mentioned that four days prior, he had received a threatening call from an unknown number. The caller identified himself as Pinku Kumar, the brother of RJD MLA Ritlal Yadav from Danapur.
The caller demanded that some of his associates be given jobs as security guards, taking advantage of the increase in security personnel at AIIMS Patna. Pinku Yadav allegedly pressured Roy to employ his men as guards and threatened him with dire consequences if he failed to comply.
Roy explained that he had informed the caller that the recruitment of guards was being handled by Security Services Solution of Bareilly, UP, and that he had no influence over the process. Despite this, the pressure and threats continued, leading Roy to suspect that this might be the reason for the attack.
Following the incident, Danapur ASP and his team visited the residence of the current Danapur MLA, Ritlal Yadav, to question Pinku Yadav, but he was not found. Reports suggest that Pinku Yadav has left Patna. City SP West Abhinav Dhiman confirmed that three criminals on a motorcycle shot at the Chief Security Incharge of AIIMS on the Digha AIIMS Elevated Road, and Roy narrowly escaped.
In his written complaint, Roy expressed suspicion that Pinku Yadav, the brother of the Danapur MLA, orchestrated the attack. SP Dhiman assured that every aspect of the case is being thoroughly investigated.
The incident highlights the persistent criminal activity in Bihar, where incidents of murder, firing, robbery, and snatching continue to occur daily. The police are examining CCTV footage from the area near Khagaul ROB as part of their investigation. Meanwhile, a case has been lodged against unknown assailants at Khagaul police station, and the police are treating the matter with utmost seriousness.
