Poster campaign in Patna

Patna: Chief Minister Nitish Kumar is set to take oath as a Rajya Sabha member on April 10, following which he is expected to step down from the top post. The development has intensified speculation over Bihar’s next Chief Minister, with no clear successor announced so far.
Amid the uncertainty, the Janata Dal (United) has once again put up posters outside its office and at key junctions across Patna, featuring Nitish Kumar and his son Nishant Kumar. The posters have stirred fresh political buzz, projecting Nishant Kumar as the “future Chief Minister”.
The campaign slogan reads: “Nitish the servant, people demand Nishant. Why consider a new face when Nishant Kumar is ready to fulfil the resolve of a climate leader?” The posters prominently display images of both Nitish Kumar and his son, reinforcing the party’s continued push for Nishant as his successor.
Earlier posters had also described Nishant Kumar as the “Future CM of Bihar”, while appealing to Nitish Kumar not to leave the Chief Minister’s post, stating that the people of Bihar would not accept his departure. Despite such appeals, Nitish Kumar is now set to proceed with his Rajya Sabha oath.
Several JD(U) leaders, including MLA Anant Singh and senior leader Anand Mohan, along with party workers, have openly supported Nishant Kumar’s elevation as Chief Minister. Similar slogans were raised when Nishant Kumar visited the party office to formally join the JD(U).
Meanwhile, the BJP is backing Deputy Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary as a potential contender. However, the NDA has yet to announce an official Chief Ministerial candidate, keeping political suspense alive in the state.
Fresh posters outside the JD(U) office in Patna reiterating Nishant Kumar as the “future CM” have further raised the political temperature, signalling an intensifying battle over Bihar’s leadership succession.
