Patna: Bihar produced a balanced and disciplined performance on the opening day of the Colonel CK Nayudu Trophy Plate Under-23 multi-day match at the Sovima Cricket Ground, Sovima, to put themselves in a strong position.
At stumps on Day One, Bihar had reached 184 for 4 in their first innings, securing a lead of 62 runs over Sikkim.
After winning the toss and opting to bat, Sikkim were bundled out for 122 in 43.1 overs in their first innings. Siddharth top-scored with an unbeaten 48, while Denry contributed 24 and Arnav added 17.
Bihar’s bowlers maintained consistent line and length throughout the innings. Nishant Kumar Singh delivered a controlled spell, finishing with figures of 3 for 14 from seven overs, including two maidens. Aditya Kumar claimed two crucial wickets, while Suman Kumar, Adarsh Lal, Vasudev Prasad Singh and Gagan picked up one wicket each.
In reply, Bihar posted 184 for 4 in 44 overs. Prashant Kumar anchored the innings with a patient unbeaten 65. He received solid support from Deepak, who scored 46, and captain Prithvi Raj, who struck an effective 44. Their partnerships ensured stability in the run rate and played a key role in giving Bihar the upper hand.
At the close of play, Prashant Kumar remained at the crease alongside Suman Kumar, with Bihar well placed heading into the second day.
