BJP Bihar President Sanjay Sarawagi

Patna: Several key political decisions are traditionally taken in Bihar after the end of Kharmas, and BJP workers too are waiting for the period to conclude. Although the party has handed over the reins of the state unit to Darbhanga MLA Sanjay Sarawagi, the announcement of his team is still pending. It is being speculated that Sarawagi’s team may be unveiled once Kharmas is over.
The newly appointed state president faces the challenge of forming a fresh organisational team. Preparations are under way to announce the new line-up after Kharmas. The BJP’s state unit is expected to have five general secretaries, around a dozen vice-presidents, 12 state ministers, seven frontal organisations and about a dozen cells. The formation of the state committee is likely after January 15, with more than 50 appointments to be made to various posts.
According to sources, the new state president has begun the exercise for forming the state committee and is inclined to continue most of the existing state general secretaries and vice-presidents. However, significant changes are expected in other positions. From an organisational perspective, young leaders and new faces may be given opportunities.
The formation of the state committee is keenly awaited by party workers as well. “Our state president Sanjay Sarawagi will complete the process of forming the state committee after Kharmas ends. However, it is entirely at the discretion of the state president as to when the process is completed,” said BJP spokesperson Prem Ranjan Patel.

The Bharatiya Janata Party has appointed Darbhanga MLA Sanjay Sarawagi as the Bihar state president, replacing Dilip Jaiswal. Jaiswal has been inducted as a minister in the Bihar government and stepped down from the party post in keeping with the ‘one person, one post’ principle.
Before Jaiswal, Samrat Choudhary served as the state president. He became Deputy Chief Minister of Bihar during his tenure and relinquished the party post under the same principle. As a result, neither Choudhary nor Jaiswal was able to complete a full term as state BJP president.
