Patna: The Bihar Transport Department is gradually launching bus services from all government hospitals in the state to nearby railway stations and bus stands, aiming to ease the commute for patients and their relatives. Following the introduction of this service at IGIMS in Patna, the department plans to extend it to AIIMS, Mahavir Cancer Institute, and NMCH next month.
The new bus routes will connect these hospitals to various key points, ensuring smoother transit for those in need. The District Transport Officer has been tasked with preparing a detailed route chart for the new services.
Bihar Transport Minister Sheila Mandal has directed officials to prioritize the implementation of these services to reduce the travel burden on patients and their families. The finalized routes will be reviewed and operations will commence upon approval. Departmental officials estimate that the entire process will take about a month, with bus services from the three hospitals expected to start by the end of next month.
This initiative aims to provide significant relief to patients traveling from across the state to Mahavir Cancer Institute and AIIMS Patna. Currently, many patients arriving by train have to change multiple vehicles to reach these hospitals. The new bus services will provide a direct and convenient transportation option, improving accessibility and reducing travel stress. Similarly, NMCH will also benefit from this initiative, addressing the lack of direct transport options currently available for patients.
