Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary on Thursday announced a series of major anti-corruption measures, including the establishment of Special Vigilance Courts in all nine divisions, vigilance police stations in every district and vigilance outposts in every subdivision. Launching Bihar Vigilance Awareness Day and Vigilance Awareness Week, he reaffirmed the government’s zero-tolerance policy towards corruption and stressed that swift action would be taken against offenders at every level of public administration.
The Chief Minister inaugurated Bihar Vigilance Awareness Day and Bihar Vigilance Awareness Week by lighting the ceremonial lamp at Gyan Bhavan, Samrat Ashok Convention Centre. During the programme, organised by the Vigilance Department, he unveiled the new logo of the Vigilance Investigation Bureau. A short film showcasing the department’s work and achievements was also screened.
Addressing the gathering, Choudhary extended his greetings to the people of Bihar on the occasion of Vigilance Awareness Day. He said Special Vigilance Courts would be established in all nine divisions of the state to ensure the speedy disposal of corruption cases and prompt punishment for those found guilty.

He also announced that government witnesses in criminal and economic offence cases would be provided transport allowances whenever they were required to travel to give evidence. To strengthen the state’s zero-tolerance approach to corruption, vigilance police stations will be set up in every district, while vigilance outposts will be established in all subdivisions.
The Chief Minister urged the Economic Offences Unit and the Vigilance Investigation Bureau to engage subject experts and adopt modern, technology-driven working methods so that, in exceptional circumstances, even national agencies such as the Enforcement Directorate (ED) and the Central Bureau of Investigation (CBI) would seek their assistance.
He directed the Vigilance Investigation Bureau, the Special Vigilance Unit and the Economic Offences Unit to take direct action against corrupt individuals. Properties confiscated from those convicted of corruption, he said, would be used to run schools under the state government’s initiative. He added that the government would act firmly against corrupt ministers, legislators and officials at every level of the administration.
Choudhary said ensuring justice for the poor remained the government’s highest priority and highlighted the ongoing ‘Sahyog Shivir’ initiative as part of that effort. He emphasised that development with justice was possible only when government policies and welfare schemes reached the last beneficiary without irregularities.
Calling for an end to the culture of shortcuts, he urged people to embrace honesty and dedication to duty. He also announced that anti-corruption awareness campaigns would be conducted in schools to promote moral values among children.

The Chief Minister said Prime Minister Narendra Modi was working continuously towards making India a developed nation and credited former Chief Minister Nitish Kumar with laying a strong foundation for a prosperous Bihar, which the present government was committed to carrying forward. He said the principles of “Triple T” — Transparency, Technology and Trust — would help build a corruption-free Bihar and further strengthen good governance.
Deputy Chief Minister Vijay Kumar Choudhary, Additional Chief Secretary of the Vigilance Department Dr B. Rajender and Director General of the Vigilance Investigation Bureau Jitendra Singh Gangwar also addressed the gathering.
Ministers, officials and employees present at the event took the Vigilance Pledge, committing themselves to carrying out their duties with honesty, transparency and impartiality, while adhering to all relevant laws, rules and procedures and placing public interest above all else.
Earlier, Additional Chief Secretary Dr B. Rajender welcomed the Chief Minister by presenting him with a bouquet. Several ministers, senior officials and police officers attended the event in person, while divisional commissioners, inspector generals, deputy inspector generals, district magistrates and superintendents of police from across Bihar joined the programme through video conferencing.
