Players concentrating on their next moves in the Bihar State Sub-Junior Chess Championship in Patna on June 7, 2026.

Patna: After the completion of the fourth round of the Bihar State Sub-Junior Chess Championship, organised by the Patna District Chess Association under the aegis of the All Bihar Chess Association, Aishani Pathak of Patna and Navya Goenka of Muzaffarpur are jointly leading the girls’ category with four points each.
On the top board in the girls’ section, Aishani secured an impressive victory over Arpita of Bhojpur, playing with the black pieces in a Sicilian Classical game. Arpita resigned on the 36th move after facing the loss of her rook. Meanwhile, on the second board, Navya defeated Shalini of Patna in just 21 moves to strengthen her position at the top. With these results, both Aishani and Navya now share the lead with four points.
In the boys’ category, four players have emerged as joint leaders with four points each.
On the top board, top seed Pratyush, playing with the black pieces, forced Anubhav Mishra of Madhubani to resign after 53 moves. On the second board, second seed Jayesh Mishra of Darbhanga, playing with the white pieces, delivered a fine checkmate against Ambar Srivastava of Chapra in 40 moves, successfully breaking through the Caro-Kann Defence.

The third board witnessed a marathon 69-move encounter between Arth Bhardwaj of Begusarai and Parthwah of Muzaffarpur. In a rook and pawn versus rook endgame, Arth eventually prevailed after a prolonged struggle, compelling his opponent to concede defeat.
On the fourth board, Manas of Muzaffarpur, playing with the black pieces in a Queen’s Pawn Opening, defeated Sahil of Sheikhpura in 47 moves to earn a full point. The remaining top three boards ended in draws.
As a result, Pratyush, Jayesh, Arth, and Manas are now jointly leading the boys’ category with four points each.
