Patna: A grand appointment letter distribution programme is being planned by the Education Department for 1.87 lakh employed teachers in Bihar who have successfully passed the competency test. This initiative will formalise their status as state employees.

The distribution programme will be held across 31 districts, including the Patna headquarters. Senior district officials have been tasked with organising and distributing the appointment letters in their respective districts.

To oversee the preparations, the Education Department has convened a meeting today via video conferencing, chaired by Dr S. Siddharth, Additional Chief Secretary of the Education Department. Daily progress reports on the preparations will be submitted to the Additional Chief Secretary.

The grand event in Patna will see Chief Minister Nitish Kumar personally distributing appointment letters. Provisional appointment letters will be issued to the teachers on 20th November through district-level programmes.

These teachers, currently employed in various schools, will be transferred to new postings as state employees. The transfer process will take place between 1st and 7th January 2025.

State employee status will bring numerous benefits, including attractive salaries and allowances. Teachers will receive a basic monthly salary of ₹25,000 for Classes 1–5, ₹28,000 for Classes 6–8, ₹31,000 for Classes 9–10, and ₹32,000 for Classes 11–12. Additional benefits such as dearness allowance (DA), house rent allowance (HRA), travel allowance (TA), annual increments, newspaper allowances, and provident fund contributions will also be provided.

This milestone marks the fulfilment of a long-standing demand by the employed teachers for state employee recognition. Passing the competency test, conducted by the Bihar School Examination Board, was a prerequisite for this advancement.
