Patna: Bihar Chief Minister Samrat Choudhary on Monday directed officials to complete all works under the Patna Metro Rail Project within the stipulated timeframe while maintaining the highest quality standards, stating that no laxity in implementing the city’s flagship transport project would be tolerated.
Chairing a high-level review meeting at the ‘Sankalp’ Hall of the Lok Sevak Awas, the Chief Minister was briefed on the progress of the Patna Metro Rail Project. Principal Secretary of the Urban Development and Housing Department Vinay Kumar and officials associated with the project presented a detailed report on the construction of Corridor 1, from New ISBT to Akashvani, and the New ISBT–Mithapur corridor via Jaganpura, along with the overall progress of the project.
The Chief Minister announced that the extension of the Patna Metro up to Malahi Pakri would be inaugurated on July 2, 2026, providing greater convenience to commuters while reducing travel time. He described the Patna Metro as a landmark project that would modernise, secure and simplify the city’s public transport system. He instructed officials to prepare a clear action plan and timeline for every phase of the project to ensure timely completion.
Samrat Choudhary also directed officials to ensure that metro construction causes minimal inconvenience to the public by implementing an effective and scientific traffic management system. He instructed them to conduct a comprehensive study of Patna’s traffic network and prepare an integrated traffic management plan to provide a permanent solution to the city’s congestion problems. He further stressed the need for strict adherence to safety standards at all construction sites.

The Chief Minister said construction work at multiple project locations should be carried out simultaneously to meet the completion deadline. He emphasised that there would be no compromise on the quality of construction and directed officials to regularly monitor the project’s progress to ensure all works are completed on schedule.
He said the operational Patna Metro would provide residents of the state capital with a safe, fast, modern and world-class public transport system. It would reduce pressure on road traffic, help curb pollution and make daily commuting more efficient and convenient.

During the review meeting, the Chief Minister also instructed officials to prepare the master plan for Patna’s proposed satellite township within the prescribed timeframe. He said the township must be developed in a planned and systematic manner to support the capital’s future expansion and meet its long-term urban development needs.
The meeting was attended by Urban Development and Housing Minister Nitish Mishra, Principal Secretary to the Chief Minister Deepak Kumar, Chief Secretary Pratyay Amrit, Principal Secretary of the Urban Development and Housing Department Vinay Kumar, Secretary to the Chief Minister Sanjay Kumar Singh, Managing Director of Patna Metro Rail Corporation Limited Sandeep Kumar R. Pudukalkatti, Building Construction Department Secretary Pranav Kumar, Inspector General of Police (Patna Range) Jitendra Rana, District Magistrate Kundan Kumar, Senior Superintendent of Police Kartikeya K. Sharma, and other senior officials associated with the Patna Metro Rail Project.
